What If The Go-Go’s Robbed a Bank?

By The Go-Go's

Jenny from BlogHer asked the ladies: If the band were to rob a bank, who would fill which shoes in the Go-Go Gang?

Jenny: Because the Go-Go’s are all about fun, I thought it would be fun to ask each of you — separately — to play a game. It’s called “What if the Go-Go’s Robbed a Bank?” In order to pull off a bank robbery, there are five basic tasks that have to happen in order to insure the success of the heist. There are also five Go-Go’s. I’ll name the task, and you tell me which Go-Go would be best suited for that task, and why. OK?

 CHARLOTTE:
[Laughing.] OK!

Which Go-Go would be in charge of “casing the joint” and identifying which bank to rob?

[Quickly]. Jane! Jane has a very methodical mind and she’s great at research. So she’d be good at casing the joint and making sure it was the right bank.

Which Go-Go would be the one to go up to the teller and tell them nicely that this was a robbery?

Gina. She can be extremely convincing, and I can see her pulling that one off.

Which Go-Go would be the one to actually go into the safe and remove the money?

Belinda! [Laughing]. And I swear I’m not saying that because she likes money or anything, I can just … see her doing that more than the rest of the girls.

OK, and who would be the one to watch over all the customers making sure they didn’t interfere with the robbery?

Hmm. I think that would be me. I’m definitely the “mothering manager” type, so I’d be making sure that everyone was OK and nothing was going to go wrong.

OK, and who’s driving the getaway car?

That would be Kathy!

 JANE:

Oh God, yes, this is so fun! I love this! Have the rest of the girls played?

Everyone except Gina.

I love this! [Laughing.] OK, go ahead! But I’m scared, it’s going to be hard!

Which Go-Go would be in charge of “casing the joint,” and identifying which bank to rob?

I think that would be Kathy. Kathy is a born researcher, so she’d be perfect for that. She’s definitely #1.

Which Go-Go would be the one to go up to the teller and tell them calmly that this was a robbery?

That would definitely be me, because I seem really harmless and sweet and innocent. So I’d definitely be the best person to go up to the teller and tell ’em this was a stick-up.

Which of the girls would be the one to actually go into the safe and remove the money?

I think that would be Gina. Because she is sneaky that way! [Laughing}. Like, you’ll be sitting in the dressing room and all of a sudden, your candy bar will be missing and guess what? Gina did it! She’ll just look at you with that cute face of hers, and you know right there that Gina took your candy bar.

OK, and who would be the one to watch over all the customers making sure they didn’t interfere with the robbery?

That would definitely be Charlotte, because Charlotte is so nurturing, always looking after people. She’s a great protector.

OK, and who’s driving the getaway car?

Belinda would definitely be the one driving the getaway car! Whenever we do road trips, Belinda is always the driver. We call her “the daddy” because she loves to drive.

 KATHY:

This is really funny. Yes, I’ll play! Wait, who else has played?

Belinda, Jane, Charlotte and now you. Which Go-Go would be in charge of “casing the joint,” and identifying which bank to rob?

I think I would pick Jane to do that, because she’s very research oriented, and … homework oriented. I mean, we’re both very similar that way, but I think Jane would be best at casing the joint!

Which Go-Go would be the one to go up to the teller and tell them calmly that this was a robbery?

Wait! Can I take back my previous answer? Because Jane should definitely be the one going up to the teller. I’d be the one doing the research on the bank, and then Jane would have to be the one to go up to the teller. I mean, come on — with her voice? Plus, she’s so petite, and she’s the smallest of us all, and that voice of hers -– it would be so non-threatening to the teller. Letting the teller know this was a robbery? Yeah, that’s totally Jane.

Which of the girls would be the one to actually go into the safe and remove the money?

I think that would be Charlotte. [Laughs]. Because she’s a Virgo and she’d be very methodical about how to get into the safe, and then get out. You know why else? Charlotte would also be the only one out of all us who would know when to stop!

OK, and who would be the one to watch over all the customers making sure they didn’t interfere with the robbery?

Oh Belinda, for sure. Because Belinda’s extremely charismatic and it would be so very easy for her to hold everyone’s attention. [Laughs hard]. Babe can rule a room!

OK, and who’s driving the getaway car?

Gina. Because Gina’s into cars, and she’s into driving, and let me tell ya, Gina would just … she’d get it done.

BELINDA:Oh, my God. Has anyone else played so far? You’re the first Go-Go to play so far. I’m interviewing the others later.

OK, I’ll play! Go for it.

Which Go-Go would be in charge of “casing the joint,” and identifying which bank to rob?

[Thinks.] I think Charlotte would be really good at that, actually.

Which Go-Go would be the one to go up to the teller and tell them calmly that this was a robbery?

[Laughing]. That would definitely be Jane. Her voice? I mean, come on. Jane, Jane Jane!

Which of the girls would be the one to actually go into the safe and remove the money?

That’s a tough one. Let me think. Probably Kathy. She’s brave.

OK, and who would be the one to watch over all the customers making sure they didn’t interfere with the robbery?

I’m thinking probably Gina.

OK, and who’s driving the getaway car?

Well, I guess that would be me!
